OK, the summer vacation is over. Posting will now resume on a "regular" schedule. Probably 2-3 times a week or more. Lots of work + Bioshock + a general malaise has laid waste to the blog posting.
Sorry, hopefully it won't happen again for a while.
Went to Columbus last weekend, a friend wanted to see Genesis & he's going to be on his honeymoon when they come to Chicago. Through some blind luck I found the Elevator Brewery on Google. It was only 2 blocks from the arena where Genesis was playing. The beer was good, but most of the beer was more caramelized than I usually like. Since we were there on a Saturday during the Ohio State game, beers were only $2.50, which was an amazing deal. Three of us drank most of the afternoon & ate some food for only $75. We all figured it would be at least twice that much.
The Genesis show was better than I thought it was going to be. They played a half dozen songs from the 70s, which I didn't expect. And three Peter Gabriel songs, which I really didn't expect. They had the biggest video setup I've ever seen, I bet it was even cooler from the $200 floor seats. I also had no idea that a bunch of their singles were heavily edited. "Home by the Sea" is a ten minute long song! Who knew?
Also, I guess everyone in Columbus went to Ohio State. At the beginning of the show, Phil Collins said "O H" and the entire crowd yelled "I O". I had never heard that one before, but I'm not a big college football guy.
On the drive back to chicago on Sunday, we listened to a 2 CD Genesis greatest hits package & we were amazed at how many hit songs from the 80s they didn't play.
OK, time to get back to Halo 3!
